notagoose“This Hyperdrive was powdered by a type of Star Stone that I haven’t seen,” Waldo remarked as the Rangers and Commander Walsh gathered in Q-Ball’s lab to hear his analysis after he had spent the last several hours making his findings.
“But Star Stones are incredibly rare,” Q-Ball protested as he examined the wreckage, “to have enough to power an armada, how do you explain that?”
“Niko,” Zack turned to her, “can your P-S-I powers help?”
“I’ll try,” Niko told him, she wandered over to the wreckage and picking up some with her hands, she tapped her badge to amplify her powers. After a few minutes she stopped, “you’re not going to believe this,” she told them. She revealed it was Captain Kidd, the bird pirate alien who had first attacked Captain Foxx and was responsible for selling his wife to the Queen of the Crown.
After that, Commander Walsh ordered BETA to go to full red alert status and there was a scramble to get the place locked down and secure. Niko and Goose were assigned to go to Captain Kidd’s home planet to get information from him.
“Nice place you got here Kidd,” Goose remarked once they had arrived at his home and had stated why they needed his information.
“I’m Luigi,” a nearby monkey chirped at them, eating apples and while Niko startled and stared it, Goose didn’t think twice about it, since it was hardly the strangest thing he had ever experienced after Fandom.
“Look Captain Kidd,” Niko pleaded , “are you going to help us?”
“If you don’t,” Goose warned, “the Queen wins everything, no human technology, no Kiwi food and no Andorian hyperdrives,”
Captain Kidd sat impassively as he listened, “Okay, okay,” he raised his hands in surrender, “have any of you seen Mrs. Kidd?” He looked around nervously. “Luigi?”
“She’s in the Galley skipper!!” He piped up.
“Then hearken to me my mateys while the Mrs. is in the Henhouse,” Captain Kidd nodded, “it’s like this,” he motioned to them to step forward and he started telling them what he knew.
He revealed that the Star Stones were fake, “a whole chapter of these duty stalls …I turned them into fake star stones. How do you like it? It’s a one of a kind pegilent trump machine,” he demonstrated how the machine worked, “I bought it in a petrol shop in Tortuna City,” he produced the realistic looking Star Stone, “I heard Slade wanted Star Stones and that’s how I popped off a bunch on him,”
“You mean Slade is using fake Star Stones for his armada?” Goose was incredulous.
“I made a button off him,” Kidd guffawed.
“So the Stones aren’t stable,” Goose mused.
“Oh a quick shot of grab waves at two million cycles and both engines will go up like nova,” Kidd told them and started laughing hysterically.
“We can do it!” Niko suddenly exclaimed, “by adjusting our weapon beams,” she grinned at that, the relief she felt was clearly evident. “Oh Captain Kidd you’re wonderful!” And before anyone knew what was happening she threw her arms around him in a hug.
That was the moment Mrs. Kidd chose to enter the room, armed with a rolling pin, “You!” she cried out, feathers ruffling in indignation. Luigi was hovering nearby, his grin indicating that he had told her about all the money that her husband had made scamming Slade and you didn’t need to be a psychic to know that Kidd hadn’t shared the money with her.
“Petunia, the love my life,” Kidd started whimpering, Niko was still holding on to him and staring at Mrs. Kidd.
“Time to go Niko,” Goose said, deciding they didn’t need to be in the middle of this and reached out and grabbed Niko’s hand.
“It was … uh thanks for everything!” She called behind her as Goose led her from the room and back to the ship. “Bye!”
They ran from the house and a moment later they could hear Captain Kidd yelling and he suddenly appeared in a hail of feathers, “wait for me,” he called, scrambling after them.
Goose hoped that there would still be an Earth to get back to and that BETA Mountain was still standing, it was still a few hours journey away and he flew as fast as could to get back so they could deliver the fatal blow to the Armada and to Slade.
After what felt like an eternity, even with his faster than normal piloting, they finally neared the Armada.
“Switch on tractor beams,” he ordered as he flew closer to one of the Crown’s ships.
“Roger,” Niko nodded as she did as he instructed, “this had better work Kidd,” he told the Pirate.
Kidd gave them the number they needed and Niko locked it in, “fire!” He ordered and Ranger One started firing at the ship and it wasn’t long before it was destroyed.
“Way to go Kidd!” Goose cheered, which was something he never thought he’d say but considering how close they were to losing this battle, he could give credit where credit was due.
Goose gleefully took out more ships and Niko sent a message to BETA Mountain and telling them how the Armada ships could be destroyed.
Soon they out outnumbered the Armada but Slade was still desperate for one last attack and charged for the Laredo but after a few minutes they were able to overpower him and Slade finally retreated.
They had won.
The next day Walsh delivered an address to the Rangers assembled in the command room, the Series 5 team stood behind him
“The Crown has suffered the worst defeat in history,” he told them, “The Queen’s Armada is destroyed, The League of Planets will stand ready to deliver to preserve justice across this final frontier,” applause broke out among the assembled teams.
