Goose had been having trouble concentrating the past couple of days and that was how he had ended up spending most of the day preparing a dinner for Ignis.

He missed cooking for Ignis and he had been worried that having a dinner on Valentine’s Day might be too much but he had been happy that Ignis had decided to accept his invitation

He had ended up deciding to cook Cauliflower Cheese soup for the entrée and he had even tried his hand at making bread and for the main he had decided to make a ragu finally or dessert he had gone with cake.

Everything was ready, the wine was poured and now all he had to do was wait for Ignis.

[for Ignis!]

The nature of the week had definitely complicated Ignis' attempts to come to terms with some of the more...perplexing feelings he'd been having lately, mostly about where he stood in his relationship with Shane and whether or not it was where he wanted to be at this stage in his life. Which weren't things that he, who'd had his life pretty much dictated for him since he was six years old, was not accustomed to having to consider at all. And to all of that a situation where he was even feeling grateful for his condition because it save him at least that little extra reminder of things like how attractive his roommate and long time companion was, then, well...

Complicated emotions be damned. He was jumping on an invitation to dinner in a heartbeat.

It was Valentine's Day, though, too, so he wasn't about to show up empty handed, with a nice bouquet of flowers and a bottle of wine, then he made his way downstairs to give a little tap of a knock on Shane's door.

"Happy Valentine's Day," Ignis offered back, with a slight nod and a faint smile, before holding out the bouquet, an arrangement of a variety of flowers, picked far more by their aroma than by their appearance. "I suppose you could could take these," he said, "seeing as they're for you. And this," he lifted the bottle of fine dessert port in his other hand, "is for later."

"Well, you certainly can't go wrong with the classics," Ignis noted, with a complimentary nod toward Shane for his thoughtful choice, "and that will pair beautifully with the port. But we're getting head of ourselves--"

Suddenly, from the very back of his memory, a spark of a moment, long buried in the past for him, but probably significantly less so for Shane, in all its recollected visual glory, of an utter disregard for the proper order of things by jumping straight into dessert. Into deep kisses and shedding clothing and tongues against skin...

Ignis cleared his throat in an effort to collect himself, though there was no stopping the flood of heat rising to his face.

"Dinner," he managed, "smells incredible."

It was a rare occasion, indeed, when Ignis found himself actually less interested in food than he was in any other given thing, and now was certainly one of those occasions.

Still, he felt suddenly determined to stay the course, almost as if accepting it as a challenge.

"I have no doubt," he said, with a small breath and a smile to help him recover and focus, "that I will. You have, after all, made incredible strides in your culinary....prowess," never one to be hastily with the choice of his words, there was a particular emphasis on how he said that one to clearly get the most out of it, "since we first met."
