Goose had received orders to return home for a few days, there were reports of activity from the Queen of the Crown and that they had been searching for the location of the Stargate, which was rumoured to be a gateway to another universe. Goose was also slightly hungover so this was going to be an interesting mission.
Goose had been asked to head to Longshot to get help from Icarus and Winter since they were needed to help search for the Stargate as it was under water and it wasn’t long before Goose was on his way to meet up with the rest of his team at Walcab.
Goose could hear Niko tell Captain Foxx that they would be arriving at the planet’s coordinates over the intercom.
“Flying Southern Dolphin Team are ready Captain,” Goose said softly, smiling at Icarus and Winter who were gleefully playing around in their pod of water that had been specially installed on the ship.
“Are you sure you want the dolphins on this one?” Captain Foxx checked one more time, “it could be dangerous,”
“Danger’s my middle name!” Winter exclaimed proudly.
“You haven’t got a middle name!” came Doc’s retort.
“Prepare for drop,” Captain Foxx decided he didn’t need for this to turn into an argument.
“Flying Southern Go!” Goose said as the ship was disengaged and dropped into the water.
Goose’s job was to help set up Icarus and Winter on their mission while the others found the Captain who could take them to the location of the Stargate. He never liked the waiting part but based on his connection with Icarus and Winter, as well as his ability to use his morphing powers to breathe under water if it was needed, it was decided he should stay with them at all time and be on guard
Eventually Captain Foxx finally called him on his communicator, “Goose, come in!”
“I read you Captain,” Goose replied.
“Report!” Captain Foxx ordered, wanting to know what was happening on his end.
“We have a fleet of crown subs spread out over a 400 kilometre radius,” Goose told his Captain from where he was piloting the dolphin’s ship as they swam on ahead, “Dolphin reconnaissance indicates a heavy midfield up a head,” he informed them.
“Have your dolphins transmit minefield danger,” Captain Foxx ordered, “stay close behind us,”
“Goose,” Alma, his AI spoke up, “enemy vessels closing,”
“Captain,” Goose relayed the information, “we’ve picked up some company,” he soon found himself heading into the minefield, carefully luring the Crown ships towards the mines so that they would explode.
Thanks to Captain Weej’s more unique style of piloting, Goose was really starting to like this guy, Goose was instructed to head towards the Stargate via the cave but he had to be careful to not touch anything.
They ended up in a lagoon, which was an impressive sight to see since they were able to surface despite how deep in the water they were.
After a few minutes they continued on with their journey but Goose noticed that something was going on, “there’s something messing up my readout equipment,” he stated.
“Goose,” Captain Foxx instructed over the comm, “hold your position at this entrance,”
“Roger Captain!” Goose acknowledged, “Dolphins!” He called out, “fan out!” Winter and Icarus swam on ahead to see what they could find.
‘Goose,” Captain Foxx asked a few minutes later, “what’s your status?”
“Situation is stable,” he reported.
“Stand by,” Captain Foxx told him, “we’re going in to investigate the power source,”
Goose was once again waiting, several minutes passed when there was a sudden burst of light and Goose had to shield his eyes from the intensity, okay maybe drinking the night before the mission hadn’t been such a good idea, “what’s going on down there?” He barked.
“Zackery’s in trouble!” came Niko’s worried response.
“He can’t hear us, he’s unconscious!” Doc added.
“Goose help us!” Niko pleaded.
Before anyone knew what was happening Captain Weej had swum over to them to help and then a few moments later Goose swam over, now sporting gills and flippers.
“Goose! Zackery’s unconscious, we can’t pull him out!” Doc told him, “you’ve got to reverse the power source!”
Goose tapped on his Ranger badge to activate his powers and then, helping keep an unconscious Captain Foxx steady as the others backed away. He reached over and held the phaser glove that Zack was wearing and once again brilliant light beams exploded around them.
Goose held on as long as he could, absorbing as much of the power of the glove as he could and once he had absorbed the charge, Doc, Niko and Captain Weej returned to helping to pull Zack from the stargate.
It was an immediate chain reaction, the walls started crumbling around them, “this place is coming down,” Doc exclaimed, “let’s grab Zack and let’s get out of here!”
There were no objections to that plan and they all swam out of the cave and back to their respective ships.
Goose made it back to his ship, “Goose are you okay?” Niko’s worried voice came through the intercom.
“I’m okay,” he assured her, “how’s Zackery?”
“He’ll be okay,” Doc replied, “but the phaser glove is locked,” Goose imaged that Doc would be using Tripwire and Haywire to free Zack from the glove.
They got away from the site with moments to spare as it exploded behind them, even though they weren’t able to use the Stargate at least it had meant that the Queen of the Crown couldn’t use it either. It also turned out that Zack had been able to pull the key out of the Stargate and keep it locked permanently. “Goose, we’ll meet you at the pick up point,” Captain Foxx instructed, now that he was more alert again. “We’re heading home,”
“Roger,” Goose acknowledged and began to make his way back.
