Goose had eventually passed out on his bed after being awake for more than 24 hours between his candy, jello shot and coffee binge and when he woke up, he felt absolutely terrible.

Which was really no surprise, it happened every single time he did this … even though one of those times had happened when he was a child, so he wasn’t really counting that one.

He checked the time on his communicator and realised it was Friday afternoon, so at least he hadn’t slept through the trip or anything like that and he knew he should really try and get up and do something but the most he felt like doing was checking to see if he had any messages and news feed and seeing what was happening back home and trying not to think about how awful he was actually feeling. He would eventually get up and move but for now he was just going to remain sprawled out on his bed and try not to move to much because everything really hurt right now.

[for Ignis but the post can be open beforehand]

It wasn't as if the office hour meetings on Thursday were always a given, but Ignis almost felt a little bad that his staying in Insomnia a bit longer than usual this week to make sure that Noctis was going to be able to survive an entire week without him around meant not getting in until that morning. And he figured he could make it up to Shane in the event that he had swung by the office only to find it empty this week by swinging around for a visit, and, of course, bearing food.

And, with that, he made his way over to Shane's apartment, knocking on the door and wondering if it was a bit presumptious to just show up unannounced, but, at the same time, he hardly imagined he would otherwise engaged....

Ignis had currently been in the process of trying to decide whether he should knock again or just assume that Shane was not home by the time he'd actually made it to the door, which certainly solved that conundrum, although it would appear as though there was another entirely different problem presenting itself.

"Shane?" he asked, frowning up at him. "I'm not interrupting anything, am I? I thought I'd bring over some food..."

There seemed to be a moment's hesitation before he added, "Are you feeling unwell? You look positively ghastly."

And why did he have the sneaking suspicion that jello was involved somehow?

Well, he didn't exactly need to admit anything when the evidence was quite plain right before Ignis' eyes, and he looked less than impressed. Still, he supposed it was a good sign that Shane hadn't tried to pretend as if he was fine in glarig contradiction to the evidence.

"Please tell me you've at least been drinking water," he said, "and I may need to do some re-evaluation. This may call for something more substantial than mere bean croquettes..."

There was a slight paused, followed by a "May I come in?" that absolutely had the feel of something only being said out of propriety.

The use of the term 'all that coffee' did not escape Ignis' notice, of course, and he gave Shane a bit of a sideways glance as he moved into the apartment, before considering his condition a little more fully.

"Good morning, then," he said, "in that case. I don't suppose you're hungry, are you? Though I believe hydration should be our first point of order."

Shane was, if anything, painting out quite the picture for him.

"Good thing," Ignis noted, handing the container of croquettes over, so that he could head to the kitchen to see about that glass of water, "I made a considerable amount.

"I don't suppose," the tone suggested, actually, that he did very much suppose, calling out lightly and hoping Shane would be following, "that there were also the customary jello shots with that candy?"

Ignis was rather thinking something along those lines, if his withering look was any indication. "And surely," he said, "candy and jello and alcohol and little else besides 'all that coffee' had nothing to do with making it worse, either. I swear, Shane, you really do try to get the most out of that healing factor, don't you?"

He finished with a sigh, looking at him like he just didn't know what he was going to do with him.

But of course he did know. The details were a little different, but this all felt all too familiar, practically déjà vu.

"Here," he said, handing over the glass of water. "Drink this. Get started on those croquettes. I'm heading to the store to pick up a few things. You'll be wanting more protein, more fats, some greens in your system. I'll see what they have that might help that healing along a little faster as well."

Some godsdamn Pedialite would be fitting in more ways than one, it would seem.

And of course Shane mentioning his upbringing softened Ignis' edges a little, the same way it always did with Noctis, although, clearly, they were talking about two very different backgrounds. But both without guidance...at least until he showed up. At at least, with Shane, Ignis was far better prepared for it himself than he could have ever had been with Noct.

He nodded in response, almost as if to say that there was no need to thank him, but he was glad have the appreciation anyway. "Yes," he said, pushing his glass up the bridge of his nose for a moment, "well....the important thing to remember about tests is that we learn from them, so, clearly, the lesson here is that a diet consisting merely of sugar, alcohol, and caffeine is quite...untenable, and perhaps we should remember there are other food groups as well."

And at least Shane actually would eat those when they were placed in front of him.

A small smile seemed to slip out into the corner of Ignis' mouth.

"Besides," he added, quite a bit softer, "with such a vast plethora of different foods out there in the world, it seems a shame to just limit yourself like that, anyway. What are you in the mood for? If it takes too long to cook, I'll just find somewhere to order it from."

"Savory pie, perhaps," Ignis specified, with a pointed lift of his brow. "I think you've had enough sweet to last you at least the next twenty-four hours."

There was a brief pause before he added, "I can work with that, though."

"Well," Ignis said, wondering exactly what time frame Shane would consider to be 'a while' in the first place, "everything in moderation.

"I'll be back shortly," he added. "In the meantime, more water, and those croquettes should do wonders to tide you over."

"Of course," Ignis said, with another slight nod as he put his hand on Shane's arm in passing. He looked up at him, and, for a moment, it seemed as though there would almost be something else, something more....but he then just moved on toward the door to make his exit.

After about twenty five minutes, though, there was another knock on the door.

It would have been a bit sooner, but Ignis found it impossible to go into Turtle & Canary these days without catching the attention of that blasted panda and his insistence on pushing certain types of cheese...

"Still hungry, though, I hope," Ignis remarked, "although there is some preparation to be done. And I hope you like Gruyère. It seemed I would not be leaving without it."

He had managed to talk Astrid into that extra ten percent, though.

She had not been hard to convince.

"The cheese panda," Ignis explained, moving easier now back toward the kitchen to start unloading the ingredients he'd gathered, "knows a connoisseur when he sees one, I suppose, and he never passes on the opportunity to accost me in an attempt to foist his latest obsession on me. This week, it seems, it's Gruyère..."

Then, he pulled a small bottle of ibuprofen from the bag and tossed it lightly Shane's way.

"For the headache," he offered, "unless the croquettes were even better than I realized."

"Good," Ignis grinned faintly. "Always nice to give that healing factor a little boost."

Well, technically, it would be an extra 500 to Shane's HP and he would be safe from any additional hangovers or any other status ailments that might come their way within the next few hours...

"And consider yourself lucky. That bear is a menace, and with very questionable taste, at that." While he spoke, he looked around a little, and, instead of trying to decipher where it was Shane was most likely to keep these things, he figured he'd save himself the trouble and just ask, "And your pots and pans are...?"
