Goose's apartment, BETA Mountain - Sunday Evening
After Walsh’s speech and spending most of the day on clean up duty, the Series 5 team had been given the night off and Doc took this opportunity to have a cooking lesson with both Goose and Niko - since apparently Niko had also tried her hand at cooking while Goose was away and had met with similar disastrous results.
Captain Foxx was having nothing to do with this and was spending the evening with his kids, Goose suspected it was also so he’d have plausible deniability for when this inevitably went wrong.
“I still don’t know why we have to cook in here,” Goose grumbled as Doc got out what they needed in his kitchen, “you’re the chef, you have all that fancy equipment in your apartment,”
Doc gave him a look, “and that is why we’re cooking in here my Gooseman,” he remarked, “I am not letting you cook anywhere near my apartment, lest you blow it up, considering what you’ve told me about your recent cooking escapades I’m not taking the chance, I still remember what you did to Zack’s kitchen,”
“He needed a new oven anyway,’ Goose grumbled, “and the fire wasn’t that big,”
“On the plus side we’ve gotten better at making cookies with Jessica and Little Zack,” Niko beamed, “of course Zack will only let us use the kitchen if he’s there to supervise,”
“Which brings me to today’s cooking lesson, how to cook something without setting food on fire,” Doc remarked, “which is apparently something that needs to be covered considering how frequently things appear to catch fire when you’re anywhere near them Goose,” he gave him a look.
“It was only a little fire that last time!” Goose protested, “it didn’t cause that much damage,” that was because Ignis put the fire out before it could Goose.
“You were making beans,” Doc snapped, “there shouldn’t have been any fire at all and don’t even get me started on how you managed to get them on the ceiling as well,” he shook his head, “all this is doing is making me think I should send an expensive bottle of scotch to your teacher, something tells me he might need it,”
“I don’t see what the big deal is,” Goose remarked, “you put the food on the stove, you turn up the temperature and then you cook it,”
“At the specified temperature,” Doc corrected, “there’s no need to turn it up all the way, the same with the oven. It does cook … you just have to be patient, which I know is something that Supertroopers aren’t known for but when it comes to cooking … it’s an art form, it takes time,”
“I still don’t see why you can’t cook it faster with the heat turned all the way up,” Goose grumbled.
“It just doesn’t work that way, all that does is burn the food and set them on fire,” Doc sighed.
It was going to be a long evening.
[Just some randomness that came to mind. NFB but OOC is welcome]
