Goose had received a call late last night that he was needed for a mission, so after making arrangements to have his class covered and letting Ignis know that he was heading off on a mission, he left for BETA Mountain early Friday morning and had been summoned into his dad’s office, he soon found himself in a briefing with Ambassador Waldo and Niko.

“You are telling me our entire universe is in grave danger?” Walsh looked sceptical as he stared at the findings that Waldo and Niko had presented to him about the neumonic energy readings that they had discovered and that it was on its way to Tortuna.

“Neumons came into this universe setting up a dangerous chain reaction,” Waldo explained, “neumons disrupt atoms until everything as we know it is destroyed,”

“Is this creature energy? Or Matter?” Walsh wanted to know.

“Both,” “Neither,” Waldo and Niko answered at the same time, they exchanged a glance with each other and Waldo continued.

“Atomic physics don’t apply, neumons shift from one form to another,” he explained.

“How do we stop this process?” Walsh then asked.

“We must return this being to its own universe,” Waldo advised.

Goose frowned as he looked at the readings, “it would take a powerful explosion to open a hole in a neumonic universe,” he pointed out.

“I agree,” Waldo nodded, “I think someone has brought this being here for a reason,”

“Someone who knows the potential of neumonic power,” Niko realised.

“I’ve got a few ideas,” Goose remarked.

“Alright Galaxy Rangers,” Walsh addressed them, “I don’t have to tell you what’s at stake,” with that they were dismissed to start preparing for their mission.

A few hours later they were on Tortuna.

“I registered an incredible neumon surge two clicks west in sorry end,” Waldo mused as they sat on their hoses near a large crater.

Meanwhile Goose was not paying much attention as he found his attention direct elsewhere, he held on to Tritan, “would you look at that?”

“That crate it made is gigantic,” Niko observed but Goose wasn’t paying attention to the crater, instead he was looking at a huge green creature that was towering over him, which was actually saying something.

“No that!”

Goose was not entirely sure what he was supposed to do as the creature came over him and he instinctively moved Triton back to avoid him

The creature bent down to pet Triton who wasn’t having any of this.

“Nice horse,” the creature said as he gave Triton a pet.

“Go away, we don’t want no trouble with you!” Triton pleaded.

“Decidedly erratic behaviour for such a violent species,” Waldo observed what was happening, he looked down at his data pads, “multiple light readings and neumonic particles, infrared yellow, blue. The work of our neumonic visitor,”

Goose looked back at Waldo, “how much time do we have?”

“Exactly 4.5 hours remaining,” Waldo stated, “Wait, I’m tracking again, the burst that time was amazing!”

Goose rolled his eyes, “skip the amazing, where is it?”

“In the proximity of that bridge,” Waldo pointed in the direction

They rode their horses over to the bridge, “down there below this ridge,” Goose barked and they saw a woman shimmering with light. She looked incredibly distressed.

“Neumonic levels are off the scale,” Waldo reported, “this being is decaying rapidly,”

A stray blast came in their direction and they ducked, Niko gasped, “the neumonic beams are impacting my implant,” she moaned, a hand going to her head.

Goose had had enough, “those beams are deadly,” he declared and grabbed his blaster to fire at the woman.

“Goose wait!” Niko pleaded, stopping him from firing.

There was a pause, “now I’m getting images but the pictures fuzzy, she’s forgotten so …” Niko tapped her badge to see what she could learn, “she’s lost some kind of power stabiliser,” more beams headed in the direction and they ducked again.

“She’s in a dangerous state of decay,” Waldo warned. “With less than two hours until critical neumonic mass,” he paused, “Niko try to make contact,”

“Hello!” Niko called down to the woman, “we must help you return to your home!”

“Shocking,” the woman gasped, “atomic beings who can understand me,”

“Such a touching scene,” came an unwelcome visitor and they looked to find Mogul standing there, one of his lackeys had a blaster pointing at them, “thank you for leading us to the source of ultimate power,” he crowed.

Realising there wasn’t much they could do in this situation, Goose, Niko and Waldo slowly raised their hands in surrender and stood up.

“Larry!” Mogul barked, looking down at his assistant, Larry looked terrified as he aimed his blaster at them, “Larry you fool, collect their weapons!”

Larry reluctantly obeyed. “Keep those hands up,” Mogul ordered, “now, Galaxy Rangers we’re going to conduct a neumonic experiment,” With their weapons gone and being held at gunpoint, they were forced down into the ridge where the woman was.

“Mogul, who else would risk the entire universe for his own reptilian greed,” Waldo groaned.

“Frightening isn’t it?” Mogul sneered, “well little lady of light, try this on for size!”

Mogul began to chant and the four of them soon found themselves being surrounded by some kind of forcefield.

“A neumonic containment force field,” the woman observed as Waldo warned them to stay away from the beams.

“Now that you’re comfortable, we’ll discuss what I came for,” Mogul smirked, “I want the crown of power,”

“Of course,” the woman gasped, “my neumonic crown that’s how I get home, it corrects my reflections,” she mused

“She’s not wearing a crown boss?” Larry gulped turning back to Mogul nervously.

“What do you mean there is no crown?” Mogul was horrified.

Goose glanced over at Niko, who had closed her eyes, trying to see if she could sense where the crown was.

“I’ll correct your reflections,” Mogul offered the woman, “I will have that crown and I will have access to your neumonic universe!”

“Right he will have access,” Larry nodded eagerly.

“Shut up!” Mogul snapped.

“Oh!” The woman gasped startled.

“We must get out of here,” Waldo declared, “before …”

“That’s right Mr. Wizard,” Mogul sneered, “and when she goes it will be roman candles for all of you prison inmates,”

Goose glared back at Mogul, “don’t be too sure,” he turned to the woman, “hit me with a beam,”

The woman was shocked, “pardon?”

There wasn’t time to explain, “quickly fire it when you’re ready!”

“If you insist,” the woman fired a beam of light directly towards him.

Goose tapped his badge just before the light hit and his bio defences began to adapt to the charge. He transformed into gold metal, “again,” he instructed and he was hit with a second beam of light.

Goose was able to absorb the charge and break the containment field that was keeping them prisoner

“Ahh!” Mogul cried, “he’s blasting the crystal dome!”

There was another beam of light, this time it hit a bunch of rocks and buried Mogul and his lackeys under it.

“Quick to the horses!” Goose commanded when they had a clear getaway and they ran to the horses, the woman was holding onto Niko as she rode.

“Now where’s the crown?” He asked her.

“I’m still not clear,” she moaned.

“The time, certain destruction awaits,” Waldo intoned. “In only 47 minutes,”

“I know where it is,” Niko declared, the woman gasped, hopeful. “I saw a clear image of a lake,”

“The radiated pool at the initial landing site,” Waldo mused.

They raced over in that direction and saw the green creature from before was still there, “it’s here alright,” Niko placed a hand on her head. “Underwater,”

“I’ll have to go and get it,” Goose decided.

“I don’t advise it,” Waldo warned him, “you couldn’t take the neumonic levels!”

“Options?” Niko looked worried as she tried to think of a solution.

“We don’t have any options!” Goose declared, not waiting for a response as he leapt from Triton and dove straight into the water. “Goose!” He could hear Niko call after he dove in.

Once he was in the water he tapped on his badge again and gills soon appeared so he could breathe under water, after a while of swimming he started to notice that he had company in the form of the green creature who was swimming after him but Goose didn’t have time to think about that, he had to get to that crown.

He swam to the bottom and picked it up, swimming back up to the surface.

“Got it!” he said, raising it triumphantly as he and the creature emerged from the water.

“Goose,” the creature echoed.

“Larry,” that was when Goose noticed Mogul and the other demons were with Niko and the others, “give me your tun,” Larry started to poke out his tongue and make faces, “not your tongue you idiot! Your tun!” Larry sheepishly pulled out his weapon. “Now get the crown,” the weapon extended and Larry started to walk towards where Goose was still in the water.

“Oh no you don’t,” he warned.

“Oh yes I do,” Larry said gleefully as he advanced.

Suddenly lightning appeared in the sky, “hurry she must have her crown,” Waldo pleaded, the woman was passed out on the ground, “she’s decomposing, reaction time is accelerating! Critical neumonic processing begins in 10 minutes!.”

“I win!” Mogul crowed, “it’s too late for all of you! Give me the crown!” the creature came out of the water and began to walk towards the others.

Meanwhile Goose was still playing tugowar with Larry with the crown, finally he had an idea, “If you insist, catch!” he threw the crown towards Larry’s head and it landed on it.

“Hey boss I got the crown,” he started moaning and wobbling on his feet. It was too much for Larry to bear and he flung it off his head in the direction of the creature.

“I got it!” The creature said triumphantly as it went towards his mouth to catch it and then he flung it towards the woman on the ground.

“That’s it!” Mogul cried and he zapped him with a spell, the creature collapsed on the floor in a heap.

Goose emerged from the water, tapping his badge so he was back to normal, “you boys have had it!” He growled at Mogul and began to fire his blaster at him.

Immediately Mogul and Larry and the other demon began screaming and ran away as fast as they could from Goose’s fire power.

“Give up Gooseman!” Mogul cowered behind a rock, “your dumb beast is dead and you’re next!”

Goose kept advancing towards them, undeterred.

Suddenly the earth began to shake and Goose stumbled backwards before he found himself on the ground.

He realised the woman was wearing the crown and so did Mogul who fled in a panic, “Larry back to the ship!” and they took that moment to flee.

“Oh that’s more like it,” the woman said, “my centre of power is restored, I knew you had in you,”

Goose was only half listening, he was glaring after Mogul’s retreating ship, “there’s no place in this universe you can run to Mogul!” He growled

“Please allow me,” the woman said as she came up to him and Goose stepped back with a slight bow, “after you,” he motioned.

She fired several beams of light at Mogul’s ship and eventually it crashed in an explosion, they could just make out the startled forms of Mogul and Larry looking rather dazed and confused.

“Good shot,” Goose grinned.

“You must hurry,” Waldo warned her, “if you don’t leave soon, you won’t make it,”

The woman turned, “well things are looking brighter all the time,”

“In more ways than one,” Waldo agreed, looking down at his readings. “Hurry, hurry!” He pleaded.

“Not for everyone,” Niko murmured sadly and they turned to where the creature had fallen.

“What’s this?” The woman looked in their direction.

“I’ll get Mogul for this,” Goose growled.

“Perhaps I can help?” The woman offered, she walked over to the creature and placed a hand on him and he began to glow brightly. Soon the creature was standing upright, looking a little confused.

“Amazing,” Waldo gasped. “phureoscent nuemonics life energy that returns after the initial contact,”

“Precisely,” the woman agreed, “he’s well preserved with new ones, he’ll be around a long time,”

“I must remind you to consider the time,” Waldo suddenly implored.

“Of course I’m aware of that,” the woman said, “thank you galaxy rangers,” she nodded to Niko and Goose who ran over to her, “its unfortunate that we cannot coexist in the same universe, I hope our paths never cross again, I will think of you often,” she turned around and created a portal of pure light, she stepped through It and then she was gone in a beam of light.

They waved after her as she disappeared.

“I never liked long goodbyes,” Goose couldn’t help but muse as he stared after her.

“Just think of the scientific data we’ve gained in this experience," Waldo said cheerfully.

“There’s got to be an easier way,” Goose looked at him.

“We’ve saved the universe Gooseman,” Waldo pointed out, “what more do you want?”

“We saved two universes Waldo,” Goose corrected and then startled as the creature placed his hands on his shoulders.

“You’ve gained a new Galaxy Ranger,” he told him.

“Always room for one more,” Goose declared, as he extended his hand for the creature to shake and everyone started to laugh.
