Goose stopped outside Commander Walsh's office in the small spacecraft that they were travelling on. It hadn't even been twenty-four hours since they had been forced to flee their latest refuge after it was revealed just what Goose's true nature was.
It hadn't entirely been his fault either.
He had lost count of how many places that they had been to in the past year since Wolf Den had happened.
"Where are we off to this time?" he asked, folding his arms as he entered without knocking.
Walsh glanced up from the reports that he was writing, he didn't say anything about the way that Goose had entered the room, mostly because he knew that it was a waste of time to get him to change his habits, "I've been asked to take over as Head of BETA Mountain," Walsh replied, holding eye contact with Goose for a few seconds before he resumed finishing off the report that he was currently working on, "I'll be overseeing the last of the construction of BETA Earth's headquarters and to start work on a new Galaxy Ranger team,"
"Great," Goose snorted, in his mind he was already working out how long it would be before they'd be forced to find another place to stay, "when do we get there?"
This time Walsh stopped writing, placed his pen down and looked back up at Goose, "you won't be going,"
That made Goose stop, "what?" his eyes narrowed at what Walsh had just said.
"You won't be going," Walsh repeated.
"I heard that," Goose replied with a slight growl, "then where am I going?" his mind instantly went to the worst possible answers, that he was going to be cyrogenically frozen after all ... that they were going to do some kind of genetic experimentation on him, more than what had already been done in the past at Wolf Den, he could...
"I've decided that we've been going about this the wrong way ... you need stablity," Walsh told him, "or at least more than what you get now, we can't keep going from place to place like this,"
"I know that!" Goose snapped, "it's not my fault that it keeps happening,"
"It's never your fault," Walsh snapped back, tensions had been high between the two over the past few days, especially as they had only just managed to escape the recent mob that had formed once it had been revealed that Goose was a Supertrooper at the last place that they had been.
Walsh took a few deep breaths, the last thing that they needed right now was to get into another shouting match. "I'm sending you to boarding school,"
"Boarding school," Goose scoffed, "what kind of school would take someone like me?"
"A special school," Walsh handed Goose the brochure that had been on his desk, Goose took the brochure and gave it the once over.
"Fandom High?" he raised an eyebrow, still sceptical about the notion of going to school.
"Like I said, special," Walsh glanced at Goose, "this will be a good chance for you to get a proper education, beyond what you received at Wolf Den. You'll be a freshman, I had to pull some strings with the board of leaders to get them to agree to you going and some of them are still not happy with the idea of you being away but...they'll tolerate it," Goose knew that 'for now' was left unsaid and he also knew that one of those people who wouldn't have been happy about his going would be Senator Wheiner.
"When will I go to this fancy spancy school?" Goose was still staring at the brochure.
"The Welcome Picnic is on Saturday, I've made arrangements for Captain Zachery Foxx to accompany you, there is a shuttle at the airport that will take the students on up to the school,"
Goose inwardly groaned, he knew that by accompany Walsh meant 'escorted' ... to make sure that he was protected on the way to the school. Captain Foxx was one of the best Galaxy Rangers and if he had been assigned to ensure that he'd be protected, well...Goose didn't really like the idea of being protected.
He didn't voice any of this out loud, instead he merely sighed and turned to leave Walsh's office.
